Nose plastic surgery (along with double eyelid surgery) is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in Malaysia. Let’s face it – the nose is one of the first things anyone would notice when they look at you, and if it doesn’t hold up to scrutiny it would cut into anyone’s self-confidence.
While perceptions of beauty varies subtly depending on culture and trends, there are universal characteristics that stays true across the spectrum. Let’s have a look at what these are:
The ideal nose shape.
Probably the most distinctively feminine feature of the face is a nose with a bridge that’s set high, straight and narrow; the nostrils should not be wider than the space in between the eyes and the tip pointed slightly upward. Asian women tend to prefer smaller, pointier noses as it complements their slightly more v-shaped faces.
Unfortunately, many of us have flat noses that look especially awful from the side. Because of the prominence of the nose, rhinoplasty surgery, or plastic nose surgery, is often the only way to correct the problem.
What does Plastic Nose Surgery Involve?
Nose lifts and nose tip augmentation are the most popular plastic nose surgery procedures as they and are relatively safe while having the biggest impact on one’s interpersonal experience.
There are two main procedures that are often performed together for the best results:
i) Nose Bridge Augmentation
The use of implants to raise the nose bridge or to correct unevenness and irregularities. Implants include silicone, Gore-tex and permanent fillers. Recent improvements in the process means better and more natural looking results as well as permanence.
ii) Nose Tip Plasty.
Compared to nose bridge augmentation, nose tip plasty is a relatively simple operation. The procedure is done by reshaping the nose cartilage at the nose tip. The procedure can be usually be completed by operating on only the septum cartilage (located in the nose), but sometimes it will be necessary to transfer cartilage from somewhere else (the ear or the rib).
Although plastic nose surgery is a relatively safe procedure and complications are extremely rare, patients do require some time to recover. It could take up to a year for a full recovery. Remember that no matter what it is always important that you find a doctor that’s honest and experienced. Having to live a life of regret is not worth saving some money over.
|Length of operation:||1-1.5 hours.|
|Anaesthesia:||Local + sedation. Patient will be unaware throughout the operation.|
|Stitch removal:||7-10 days after surgery.|
|Hospitalization:||None. However, patient will be required to stay at the clinic to recover.|
|Time for full recovery:||6-12 months minimum. Bruises and swelling should disappear in 2-4 weeks and should look natural again after 3-6 months.|
