01 / How it works
Direct bloodstream delivery bypasses gastrointestinal absorption, but higher blood levels do not automatically produce better long-term health outcomes. Medically indicated IV hydration is considered when a patient has clinically meaningful dehydration, significant ongoing fluid loss, or difficulty tolerating oral fluids. In contrast, a “wellness IV drip” is a commercial term that often refers to mixtures promoted for energy, beauty, or detoxification claims that must not be presented as established medical benefits without reliable product-specific evidence.
Every injectable medicine, vitamin, mineral, or fluid used at Medi Clinic must be verified individually. A registered ingredient does not automatically mean that every customised mixture or off-label combination is safe. We verify the exact product name, NPRA status, MAL registration number, active ingredients, and expiry date. Our doctor plans treatments conservatively for patients from Taman Pelangi, Mount Austin, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, and across Singapore, ensuring a safe approach that protects your kidney and heart health. Oral hydration or oral vitamins are often safer, more convenient, and completely sufficient for many concerns.

Who may benefit
Symptoms such as fatigue, headache, dizziness, or low energy are not a diagnosis. They can be caused by inadequate sleep, anaemia, infection, diabetes, or simply a need for oral fluids. This is why a doctor’s assessment is mandatory.
Clinical Assessment: Our doctor evaluates your fluid intake, blood pressure, fever, sweating, vomiting, medical conditions, and kidney/heart history. We do not provide self-diagnosis scoring systems for wellness drips.

03 / Your treatment journey
A calm, well-explained experience at every stage.
Talk through the concern, your previous experiences and the result you would like to explore.
Review the treatment area, suitable options, expected experience and practical timing.
Arrive prepared and receive clear guidance throughout the treatment visit.
Leave with simple aftercare, helpful contact details and a plan for review.
If an IV infusion is deemed medically appropriate, the process is carefully monitored. Staff may observe your symptoms, comfort, IV site, blood pressure, and pulse to ensure there are no signs of allergy or fluid intolerance.
Follow-up & Care: We provide written aftercare instructions advising you to keep the IV site clean, monitor for worsening redness or swelling, and maintain suitable oral hydration at home.
The primary goal depends entirely on the clinical indication. A patient with dehydration may feel different after fluid replacement, but we do not promise immediate energy, stronger immunity, or a hangover cure. Results vary for each individual and depend on the underlying medical problem. Our patients from Tebrau, Permas Jaya, Eko Galleria, and Medini appreciate that we do not promote elective IV drips for everyone. Whether you are a JB local or a Singapore visitor, we focus on safe, evidence-aware care rather than risking your health with unnecessary multiple-ingredient mixtures.

06 / Before you decide
Safe IV therapy involves acknowledging the medical risks associated with bypassing the digestive system. Intravenous access itself can cause insertion-site pain, bruising, phlebitis (vein inflammation), infiltration (fluid entering surrounding tissue), extravasation (medicine leaking into tissue), or catheter-related bloodstream infections. We will monitor your comfort and the IV site carefully during the process.
The absolute most important safety rule is avoiding inappropriate fluid or electrolyte administration. Excessive IV fluid can cause fluid overload, worsening swelling, breathing difficulty, or heart and kidney complications. Contaminated or unsterile injectable products pose a severe risk of pyrogen and endotoxin reactions, which is why sterile, verified ingredients are non-negotiable. By setting realistic expectations and maintaining strict infection-control standards including single-use equipment and proper hand hygiene we help patients protect their health.

No. A medical hydration fluid, verified vitamin infusion, prescription medicine, and a customised wellness mixture are completely different treatments requiring distinct clinical justifications and regulatory reviews.
Not automatically. Mild dehydration can often be treated effectively with oral fluids. IV fluid may be appropriate when dehydration is more severe, oral intake is not tolerated, or another significant medical indication exists.
No. Fatigue may be related to inadequate sleep, anaemia, infection, diabetes, thyroid disease, mental health, medicines, or nutritional deficiency. These underlying causes require proper diagnosis, not an arbitrary wellness drip.
Patients with kidney disease, heart failure, liver issues, electrolyte disturbances, pregnancy, G6PD deficiency, or severe allergies require careful medical review to avoid serious complications like fluid overload or adverse reactions.
