Identify the concern before choosing treatment
A flat brown mark, blue-grey pigment, red vascular patch and raised lesion require different assessment. Age of onset, stability, depth, colour and location all affect whether treatment is advisable and which device may be considered.
A doctor-led consultation reviews the appearance, history, previous treatment, skin type and relevant medical factors. The purpose is to select a suitable mechanism, not to force every concern into the same device or injectable.

Safety, limitations and realistic expectations
Treatment may produce redness, swelling, crusting, blistering, colour change, incomplete improvement or scarring. Some birthmarks should be monitored or referred instead of treated cosmetically.
Results vary. No treatment is also a valid option. The doctor may recommend observation, staged treatment, a test area or referral when that is safer.

Are all birthmarks removable?
No. Suitability and expected response depend on the exact type, depth, location and medical assessment.
Is a red birthmark treated the same as a brown one?
No. Vascular and pigment-based marks have different targets and may require different devices or referral.
Can treatment make a birthmark darker?
Temporary or persistent colour change can occur. Certain pigments may respond unpredictably, so a cautious plan is important.
Can Singapore patients have a test spot first?
A doctor may recommend staged assessment or a test area depending on the mark and device being considered.
